He did B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering, And then he got a scholarship to study materials science and semiconductor physics from Stanford University, Where he earned his M.S. He did MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2002), where he was named a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.

On a interview Sundar Pichai said about Indian Education System, A teacher asked to Sundar Pichai – which skills and techniques are now needs to learn to children to make the future ? On this question Sundar Pichai replied – The ways we could move forward would be for me, creativity is very important attribute. Encouraging creativity from the educational system is very important and practical knowledge is another attribute for success. Sundar Pichai referred to what the best schools in the US do which is: “Experiential, very hands on, people learn how to do things by doing them, not just by learning about them” Pichai loved a educational system in which there a lot of creativity, learning how to get things done by hand and much more project based learning.
